I don't care what your politics are, but every headstone, on every military cemetery, on any ground one sits, lays an American citizen, who sacrificed for a Constitution, that within it is the right to vote. Voting should be a celebration, an honor, a patriotic duty. An understanding.

In my senior year of high school ('01), American government teacher Coach Perez made everyone in the class fill out a voter registration form.

How is voting difficult?
Registration takes 15 minutes and can be done online or at any post office.
Come election day almost every public building is set up as a polling location and if you can't make it there directly you can request and cast a main-in-ballot.
If someone on the other side of the world can cast their vote then you have no excuse other than personal lazyness.

Automaticj voter registration should be automatic with driver's registration, draft registration, WIC, SNAP, graduation, etc. If AARP knows when people turn 65 and people are required to sign up for Medicare, everyone should be registered on their 18th birthday.

Voting is a right. It should be automatic.

In Canada you renew your registration by checking the box on your tax return, or by checking the voter poll and asking for it to be updated, or by asking for a voter registration card from the federal government or at the polling place when you go to vote. You take you ID and a bill that shows your address. You don't need to specify party of affiliation. Citizens between the ages of 14 and 17 may register t the Register for Future Electors an register. When they turn 18 they will automatically by on the list of electors.

That isn't automatic voter registration! If you are a citizen who is added to the electoral roll as soon as you turn 18, with no action required whatsoever, then you have automatic voter registration. This is just tying the bureaucracy to an existing bureaucratic procedure.
