As a new soap maker I am thrilled that I came across your channel. Thank you for your time, honest information, and no fluff attitude! You make information easy to absorb and don’t adhere to the hype. You’re awesome!

Thank you so much! I have been making soap for just over a month and have been waiting to use the soaps I had made first until I got past the 6 week mark so that they were safe to use. You've put my mind at ease!

I'm really glad to have come across this video. I shared this with a friend of mine who is having trouble with hot-process soaping, but still chooses it over cold-process simply because she forgets to make it far enough in advance to allow for curing for several weeks. I myself am very new to soaping and appreciate your approach!

I made my first batch over the Christmas holiday and was waiting to use it first week in February (the 6 week mark). Then i came across your channel and tried my soap right way. It lathered and cleaned beautifully. My boyfriend and he loved it too. Thank you so much!!!

I use a water discount in all my batches now. Sometimes I use just enough water to get my lye dissolved and it makes a huge difference. WSP had a chart that compared the different water % in the batches and showed how long it took for the water to evaporate. I also find that adding milk powder, either coconut or goats milk to the batch makes the bars really hard.
Thank you for being willing to have a no nonsense approach to this! Can’t wait for more videos.

Thank You Uncle Jon. I have a craft show this Saturday and was not going to be able to take my 2 newest soaps because it had not been 30 days curing time. Well, after watching this video, they will be going with me. Thanks again.

WOW! I'm so glad I found your channel!! I'm just starting out at soap making and was almost considering giving it up! I was scared to death of lye, worried about no letting it cure long enough, had no idea what oils to use...turns out you don't have to be a rocket scientist to make soap!!!! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!!!! P.S. LOVE THE BEARD!!!

You mentioned French milled soap. I LOVE French milled soap. It lasts so much longer than regular HP or CP soap. Even if you put embeds, that will help your soap to last longer also.

BOOM! That is what I needed to know.

So.... No making and having to wait weeks to try to sell, or figure a month or two and guesstimate ahead on what I may or may not need.

This is right on time.

Thanks.

I subscribe to very very few channels.

YOU have a new subscriber.

I agree with your advice. Curing is only really to dry the soap. To further this argument, I have actually pH tested (digital lab grade pH probe) my soap 12, 24, and three weeks. They were all the same for four different batches. Hand made soap should be between 9-10 give or take if you don't pH balance them. So, yeah. It is safe the next day.

Thank you Uncle Jon! You have really eased my mind. I have been making soap ( cold process ) for a couple of years now and because of health issues have just used my last bar .. made some more a few days ago .. ( I have Lupus ) so I make Castile soap without scent etc. Thank you!

I am going to make my first batch of Castile soap soon. I have heard so many different things about curing time. Some people say, “ Oh, I cure my Castile soap 6 months to a year.” Others say it is safe to use in 24 hrs but you should wait about 4 weeks. I love your videos . The way you make things so simple and easy through your experience. Some people make soap making sound so complicated, difficult and scary. Honestly I think most people are saying a lot of these things, like scaring you when you don’t need to be, because of liability to them. It scares a lot of people away from making cold process soap. But because of people like you, I have decided it’s not that scary! I mean, you have to be careful with everyday things like you said in your fragrance and essential oils video. Not too much of anything. Following directions. Like bleach, you use it every day when you do your laundry or clean, but you are careful not to get it on your skin or in your eyes! I knew a lady that worked at a laundromat and bleach splashed in her eye and she went to the dr for treatment and had to wear an eye patch for a while. You just have to have common sense and do your research. I love it when you say “ It’s no big deal !! Thanks! 😊
