Fantastic discussion! Whole new world for me. And Jeffrey's account of the process of getting research funding brings to mind David Graeber's account of why technological innovation got dull in the neoliberal era, given in his lecture (also on YouTube) On Bureaucratic Technologies and the Future as Dream-Time. Recommended!

Hurray! "A 3 m image on the day you need it is a lot more worth than a beautiful 30 cm image two weeks later when everything has changed again" [00:50]
