Proton Pass is the password manager created by the scientists, who met at CERN, behind Proton Mail: the world’s largest encrypted email provider. Proton Pass is open source, end-to-end encrypted, and protected by Swiss #privacy laws.

Proton Pass offers more than other free password managers and has no ads or data collection. You can use it for free on all your devices to create and store unlimited passwords, autofill logins, generate 2FA codes, and secure your notes. You can also create email aliases and more.

Email aliases. Just what I was looking for. No more having to change every single account email when one of my accounts gets compromised.

I had no idea Proton could do MFA, that's great news.

Love that Proton has a Manager, but I dont see any reason to switch from Bitwarden. Still excited for Proton Drive as a full system backup. Currently using Sync, but will switch to Proton if/when it can replace Sync.

Ready to drop my actual password manager! Good work!

A little bit frustated...
- No dedicated Windows app
- 2FA is only for Premium (I think they changed their mind last minute, cause few pages from Proton shows its included within Free plan)
- No web access (just browser plugins)
- Limited customization

I hope this changes as my idea is to migrate all my services, especially the password manager, to Proton

Great to hear Proton is developing a Password manager. I hope to see desktop up similar to 1password as their app with great shortucuts is very useful. Only browser extension is not enough imho

Does it automatically copy 2FA code to clip board after autofilling password?

So when I make an Email aliases do I then go to the site (such as Amazon) and change my log in and email with that account?

It’s trivial to copy a 2fa seed. Solution: A simple hardware 2fa in your pocket is obvious, like Yubikey. Trusting someone, ANYONE, with ALL your 2fa seeds is NOT a logical “intermediate” solution because the vast majority will NEVER get around to perfecting their security. 1Password blew it when they abandoned self-hosted vaults for those under their control. 1. Not your vault, not your passwords, 2. Not your seeds, not your vault, 3. Not your seeds, not your 2fa.

This video appears to be marketing, not a tutorial. I have signed up but am having trouble finding tutorials that take me through step-by-step set-up and operate. I have found some YouTube review videos that provide a better set-up guide than what Proton provide, not encouraging. Can someone point me in the right direction?

For the pro, what those it bring compare to bitwarden and other fork of it (such as cozy pass), exept a better look ?

Plus, About the 2FA auth, is it good idea / safe to have both a the same place (the exension/the app) ?

How much e-mail alias have we access to ? (cause i'm obviuosly interested in this proton service :) )

It would be nice if it could auto-fill custom fields like other password managers, and also support adding bank accounts.

It looks nice. I like it.

However this looks very similar to 1Password interface. And since the Proton development team is infamous slow on development, I going to hold for now.

Can I use a custom domain for email aliases? I can foresee websites blocking your domain alias.

I am considering Email Plus or Proton Unlimited so that I can use multiple email addresses. Currently, I have Proton Pass Plus linked with one email address, so whenever I am to fill an email to a field for a subscription, Proton Pass offers me an alias linked to that one email, obviously. But how does it work when one has multiple email addresses (I mean full-fledged, not mere aliases)? Does Proton Pass offer the alias for subscibtions etc fields for the “main” email address only, or can one easily choose from all the email addresses that are added to the account?

Proton Pass browser extension requires to log in via Proton website and that is a hudge disadvantage, because you need to keep Proton's cookies. My browser is configured to delete all cookies after closing (for privacy reasons) and that means - Proton extension forget my login credentials. I like PP's user interface, but don't like how it works.

I love the design, but for now, is the only reason to change from Bitwarden/2FAS/Anonaddy or SimpleLogin

I think Bitwarden is light years ahead on privacy and security, but their UX sucks, but is free and will stay free forever, and their premium plan is very cheap so people pay only for support developers, not for features (not all of them, at least).

2FAS is just beyond amazing, and I wouldn't recommend to have your 2FA codes on your password manager.

SimpleLogin and Anondaddy are just fine, I'm currently using both in order to determine a winner, but both work very nice.

Proton is just so expensive for a cool UI. The security and privacy should not be that expensive, especially when I read that Proton gave info of one user to some government.
