Don't be so hard on yourself dude, we all do stupid stuff that we aren't proud of. Even the most humble people still have to appease the ego once in while....

Big respect for the honesty and self-critique. Lessons are forgotten and learnt again...

Good message man, lots of newer lifters will fight at all costs to get a pr and form gets worse and worse, they get badly injured and then the discipline of the barbell slips away for the rest of their life. Knowing your body and when to back off is key to becoming an intermediate to advanced strength lifter.

You are strong man, a lot of my clients would kill for a 200kg squat once let alone 27 times in a row 😅

You are a wise fella, Ivan. Thank you for being so candid. Don't beat yourself up. I learn so much from your videos!

To what you were talking about at the end, you're 99% right. One thing you're off on is, you are not the idiot for having the internal conversation. I was the idiot who charged through the door just now. I lost 7 pounds this week because I trained through mild illness and got far worse. I like to think everything has a reason and lesson. To me, seeing you at clearly sub 100% still getting up and doing squatting 200kg for the 27th day in a row with all of your self doubt is so inspiring man but its important to watch your health. Mental and physical, repetition is necessary but sometimes can become monotony and stagnation. I remember a couple hundred days ago you hit something along the lines of 80kg x 50 reps in one set, I was thinking maybe there could be some potential in switching from your almost Ivan Abadjiev style daily to focusing again on some more high reps, I could see this maybe building more muscular endurance as well as not putting the pressure on you to squat heavy every session, allowing more freedom in the rows, etc for now, while also still building some muscle through hypertrophy. I'm just shooting from the hip and throwing out ideas so I hope I don't come across wrong, but i've been toying with the idea of what if sessions add up to a dedicated maxing day. For example lets say 6th day Saturday is max day, if rows seem to stifle performance the following day, rows should be programmed into monday-wednesday, allowing thursday and friday as preparation days to begin reacclimating the CNS to "heavy weight" (Im thinking like 90%+.) I think this could allow for heavier more intense rowing sessions, which would be a better bang for the buck in terms of building that back strength. Either way again just throwing out thoughts, sorry for the long comment. Thanks always for the content Ivan, much love.

Keep it going with the bent over rows bro. I love them makes my back feel buttery. I used to do construction and was bent over 8 hours a day with a 60lb concrete saw. My back never felt better.

Its good to hear these things. Ive been using your videos in the morning to get me going and start my routine and its really comforting to hear a perspective thats honest and upfront. It seems my receptors are telling me the same thing every day but hearing content like this inspires me to push through it and keep on track with the journey. Many Blessings

Respect, man. The body is number one in the gym. No one else is worth listening to, including ourselves. An amazing 200kg streak, regardless. 👏

This was actually a great video for what I'm going through with my projects at the moment. I have these grand ideas that I want to make reality ASAP, obstacles always popping up.. in my rush to get things done I don't learn the lesson enough and repeat mistakes etc.
Cheers for the video man!

Your tenacity is inspiring. No matter what, the weight still went up. The amount of knowledge and experience you've earned from this period is invaluable. I know I'm excited to see your next chapter. Great work as always.

Hey man have you thought about doing some hamstring work before squatting. I was watching a video of Mr Simmons and he was talking about the importance of activating the hamstrings before heavy squats to warm up and strengthen the knees!

Ivan, have you ever played around with internal rotation? Sprints, punches, any swinging or really any explosive sport. That internal rotation combined with triple extension is a wonder on the body especially all we do it squat with feet turned out

The one thing I learned the past two years is that you should always listen to your body and don't overdo things which don't feel right. First time I blew a disc was like 5 years ago and last year something similar happened to me (both down to form breakage at higher weights I think) I still feel irritation in my lower back and even in other regions and it doesn't allow me to squat or deadlift at this moment with higher weights. I could have easily prevented this by just using correct good form with less weight. Be careful about the form breakage Ivan, it's not worth the potential long discomfort afterwards. Listen to your body and enjoy the journey, that's the most important if you ask me. In my twenties all I cared about was hitting the highest numbers possible. Now I just turned 32 and I care about creating the best version of myself and enjoy the training. Keep up with the great work!

love the honesty man. Taking a good hard look into the mirror and questioning yourself is a very valuable thing to share with the world. Especially in this space where everyone is portraying this fake perfect image of themselves.

We all have the moment where we gamble and ignore the warning signs. Despite ignoring them you managed to catch it before you got injured so lesson learned.

Man, sometimes we take a shot we shouldn't have. It's not the end of the world. We've all done it and we're all gonna do it again. As long as we try to take something away from it and course correct it's all good. Part of the process of growing.

I used to workout hard af every day, but I noticed the most gains when I eventually took a couple off days.

I do believe a lot of this recovery shit people talk about is overblown though, its based on studies done on people who haven't spent enough time adapting their body to work harder with less rest. Still, you need some rest and need to listen to your body. Keep it up and keep getting stronger.

Well, I agree - ego lifting is bad and injuring yourself is bad bad bad. However, learning to 'grind' inevitably means finding yourself in less than optimal positions and learning how to work through them. It's all a learning process, even the bad lifts (especially the bad lifts)
