He is like Nicholson in that he loves working. I've never seen Slater dial in a performance. Every movie. Every show. Every guest appearance he gives it everything.

LA, 1988. "Heathers" had developed a following and no matter when or where it played, we went. Girl at the one sheet poster shop said her mom worked with Christian's mom. Switchboard at MGM. Asked her if she could pass along a photo to his mom to sign. Got it back that weekend.

OK, watching this is hilarious - I remember back when he appeared on SNL in '91 he joked dismissively about being accused of "doing Nicholson"... and he DID sound like Nicholson at the time... but when I watch him NOW, he does NOT sound like Nicholson, his delivery now is very different - in other words, he comes across like a guy who dropped the Nicholson act at some point and now he just sounds like Christian Slater. If you watch him in Heathers in '89 or his SNL appearance in '91, he's totally "doing Nicholson" even though he denied it.

I’m glad Christian has become his own person because early in his career, it seemed like he was doing a Nicholson impression 24/7. I love jack’s movies, but I really don’t like it when people do impressions of him; it comes off as a bit creepy and gimmicky.
