Leclerc's throttle technique is incredible, in tracks like Baku it makes the biggest difference and that's why he is so fast there.

Charles made the gain at the entry to the old-town at 0:56. You can see Leclerc throttle application is harder. Then the left hand turn at 1:15 Piastri oversteered on exit. These 2 differnce sealed the pole position for Leclerc. Piastri car or driving style overloaded the rear earlier than Ferrari.

man LeClerc is unbelievable at accelerating through a corner. like look at how active his throttle inputs are leading into the apex of the first three (and the one before the final straight) turns compared to Piastri. his corner exit throttle input is happening before his sidepod is even alongside the apex. If the throttle trace is accurate I don't think he went below 10% application for the entire lap lol.

My insights, Ferrari's better at cornering, stable car, can brake later and accelerate earlier, but MClaren Merc engine makes up the deficit pretty quick, but at higher danger of wheelspin, as seen in 0:54, and at the straight, MClaren is faster until the DRS opens, then Ferrari go way faster.

There is a secret about the McLaren, Even the Charles uses a technique for better exiting in corners but, However Mclaren generally better exiting in corners like normal McLaren Cars like the 765LT or Senna. It sticks the rear tires on the ground without losing the front end. Thats impressive. I saw the same moment at Holland GP also. I think McLaren using a whole new differential technology on car and it works really well.

Piastri has lower downforce than Leclerc but Charles had the higher drs advantage as a result of higher downforce. That was one of most special qualifying laps I’ve seen from Oscar though!

Interesting to see how bad the Mclarens traction is compared to the Ferrari. It really hurts out of the slow corners. At 1:15 Leclerc is on the throttle way earlier and way harder but the Ferrari sticks. The Mclaren doesn't (although Piastri was also a bit too far off line which may have contributed)
