Exploring the 1959 Plymouth Sport Fury on our sales floor

This 1959 Plymouth Fury is a super cool 50s cruiser with performance upgrades and the iconic "Forward Look!" Due in part to the gorgeous new design, Plymouth produced 17,867 Sport Fury hardtops which made up approximately 4% of Plymouth 1959 total production. This particular example comes to us from southern-based collectors who clearly enjoyed cruising around in the Forward Look 50s cruiser. Powering this '59 Plymouth Fury is an upgraded 440 Cubic Inch V8 engine fed by an Edelbrock single 4 barrel carburetor. The 440 V8 is backed by an upgraded 727 TorqueFlite Automatic Transmission that is shifted using a Lokar floor-mounted shifter. Exhaust exits the 440 powerplant via a dual exhaust setup that generates a fantastic throaty sound out of the rear tailpipes. This 1959 Fury comes outfitted with several superb options and upgrades! The front brakes have been upgraded to disc brakes and the single master cylinder has been upgraded to a more modern dual master cylinder, which together provide for both stronger braking power and better braking reliability, especially with all that extra horsepower under the hood. Additionally, this '59 Sport Fury comes equipped with power steering which makes maneuvering this nearly 3,500 pound hardtop much easier and the overall driving experience is thus greatly improved. Further aiding in parking efforts is a pair of chrome outside mirrors that provide improved visibility when squeezing into that tight parking space at the local car show or ice cream parlor. Riding on a set of whitewall radial tires mounted on steel wheels and accented with full wheelcovers, this '59 Plymouth has a great look and even better ride. The exterior of this 1959 Fury has been refinished in a two-tone paint scheme consisting of a Mint Green body and accented with an Iceberg White top that completes the outside look of this Forward Look Mopar. The interior design of this 1959 Plymouth Fury 2 door hardtop is exquisite! The front swivel out seats along with the rear bench seat have been reupholstered in Green Vinyl with Green and Beige woven cloth inserts. The dark green carpeting, upholstered door panels, green padded dash, and iconic transparent see-through steering wheel are all in wonderful condition and appear to retain a nice stock appearance. A 120 MPH speedometer, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge are all housed in the space-age-looking instrument cluster. This Fury also comes outfitted with a Mallory oil pressure gauge and temperature gauge mounted neatly under the dash along with a 11,000 RPM Mallory tachometer incorporated into the Lokar shifter housing assembly for improved visibility of the upgraded engine's performance. The dash is finished off with an AM radio, slide-out ash tray, clock, and glovebox. My Dad had a 1959 2 door pillarless Dodge Royal, had a big Hemi with crossover intake and dual 4 barrels, so chromed up Flemingo with creme and Flemingo gray and cream interior with silver thread in the upholstery and carpet. What a gorgeous car. By the time I went to college It was 10 yrs. old. I wanted to buy it from him but he refused.
