I'm a big fan of this format with you guys playing off each other and offering a fascinating insider's view and outsider's view of what's happening in Spain now. Good job guys!

As a Spanish teacher to secondary school teenagers in Ireland I find your videos invaluable, so informative and authentic to really show what modern Spain is like as well as the traditional side of the culture such as the recent 'El Colacho' and 'Semana Santa' among so much more that you've done. I get very excited every time you've published a new video.

Let's keep northern Spain a secret. I fell in love with the Basque Country over 10 years ago when my then girlfriend brought me to meet her abuela and tīa. The weather in the north is amazing.

Unless we’ve been taking a long nap over the past 3-4 decades, we all have taken notice that the “Ways of Living” in most of the parts of the planet has changed dramatically.
You can say a lot of this about almost 85% of the places around the world.
I don’t know about others, but my wife and I are retiring to Playa de San Juan de Alicante this year; and never expected to go back to the same Spain that we experienced and loved so much back in the 80s when we were students living in Madrid for over two and a half years. We migrated to Canada after Spain; lived there for over 8 years and then migrated to the United States and been living here for over 25 years; and both countries are almost unrecognizable from what we saw and experienced the first time we set foot in them. What happened; you might ask. Well, life happened; people happened; politics and economics happened. Spain is no different. Imagine what would a couple of young immigrants who move to Spain today would say about the country 30 or 40 years from now…
And oh by the way, tapas was never a healthy way of eating; so no wonder the younger generations have dropped them from their priorities 😊

Es mejor cuando los dos están juntos. Tus perspectivas mescladas son fascinantes. Tengan coraje! Estas temas valen más que esas de la mayoria de otros videos de España, por ejemplo, comidas y playas, comidas y playas. Saludos de Nueva Zelanda :)

Japan and Spain are very similar in many aspects. One thing from japan that Spain could implement is the “hometown tax” where if you live in a city you can allocate part of your taxes to go directly into a small town and in exchange the, small town sends you a small gift bag with local products. This way off the path areas are kept alive and people are inclined to go visit them since they are well kept thus strengthening the economy of the local tourism. The last thing is the more you grow the train network the more people move around and move money around thus helping more places in spain have strong economies.

Sad to hear about the decline in mom & pops and the increase in franchises. I hate this about the restaurant industry in the US.

Yoly’s baaaack! So good to see the two of you on screen again, together. Thanks for another super informative video. Love the format, love the range of topics. I think a mix of this lighter format along with your deeper dive takes when you explore a single topic in more detail keep the channel fresh and they definitely keep Rosa and I coming back again and again.

Ok. So you are concerned about the rise of far right (Vox), but not for the rise of far left (Podemos, Sumar)? May I know why?

Welcome back Yoly, we've missed you! Wonderful to see you (and James). Enjoy this new format -- it's really engaging and feels like friends sharing first-hand information about/from Spain on a range of topics. Enjoyed the video and would love to see more (on post-election, changes since COVID, new travel locales in-country, why food tastes better in Spain, etc.) -- please keep them coming! Thank you.

My wife and I moved to Malaga over 2 years ago from the U.S. We have enjoyed your channel since before we moved here. We have noticed the changes here, from commercial restaurants edging out traditional restaurants and tapas bars. Luckily, there are still mom and pop establishments left in our area. Thank you

Also, forgot to say thank you for that marvellous episode on train travel! I used your help to book all our tickets on Trainline recently and we took the Iryo options. Can’t wait for September!

Well done James and welcome back Yoly. This format reminds me of the good old days when you both discussed and shared relative information about Spain. Keep up the good work and keep us informed.

I like a bit of variety and I enjoyed this episode seeing you both in the driver’s seat giving your take on dynamic Spain. This country has been an excellent host for me over the last 39 years.
