In another inductee that is sure to cause some "debate": The theme to the 'Mts. of Mira-Mira' stage in 'Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil' features Klonoa's own voice actor, Kumiko Watanabe, providing lyrical accompaniment to an admittedly decent instrumental (save for some droning percussion during the chorus). The problems is, the song is sung by Watanabe as Klonoa themselves -- complete with shrill-toned vocals and a nonsense language made up for the game. In this song's appearance a in future game - 2005's 'Namco × Capcom' - these vocals are mercifully omitted, perhaps demonstrating a knowing by Namco that the original version is not palatable to most people's ears.

Of additional note: The North American re-titling of this song is known as "Wahoo Stomp" -- with "Stepping Wind" representing the track's original Japanese titling (as originally written in English alphabet, to boot).

Genuine question: "shrill-toned vocals and a nonsense language" sound like complaints one could give to the Splatoon soundtrack. Do you feel that is bad as well? If so, no harm no foul (I at least get where your standards lay). If not, may I ask what the difference is between this and, to pull a random example, Bomb Rush Blush?

i dont have much of a connection with klonoa (i played the original and liked it okay), but these vocals seem pretty charming to me? i can see how theyd be grating but i like it

Honestly, I can get where you stand from, but, personally, I find this to be completely palatable. In fact, I somewhat like it. The vocals being the way they are is, in a sense, part of world building, since the style mimics the canonical execution of how it might sound. I suppose it might be more appealing to a wider audience if the vocals were, say, in actual Japanese instead of a made up language, but I honestly feel as though the voice tone works fine with the instrumental. To each their own I suppose.

This song isn't 'bad' it just doesn't really fit in with any of the other songs in the game, I don't think. It felt too intense, too 'rock' for the theming of the game and for the other soundtrack pieces. I could see it working as more of an end credits song, rather than an actual level song.

I really don't think this is that bad. I mean.... It reminds me a little of Splatoon, personally. Granted, it's something I wouldn't want to hear for a very long time, but it's certainly more than tolerable in my opinion.
