EPF VS SCHUYLKILL MUSKY...!!!

In this EPF Episode, I hook a very unexpected Musky from the Schuylkill River while chasing Smallmouth Bass on the Hawk In-Line Spinner. 😅 Enjoy the fight, Ladies & Gentlemen!

😲...I originally intended to shoot a video on the EuroTackle EuroTube that day! That's why you see a PINK 1.75" EuroTube in the "bonus clip" of this video. After not getting a single bite on the River for over two hours, I switched to the Hawk In-Line Spinner and started casting. I hooked that Muskellunge on my 3rd cast there...and then, I decided to shoot a video using that footage as the main theme. 😈
😲...In over ten years of fishing the Schuylkill River, this was only my 2nd ever "Schuylkill Musky." Needless to say, both of them got away. 😞 The first one I hooked years ago, under the Fairmount Dam.

Brought back memories of the first time I hooked a Muskie at Beltsville Reservoir north of Allentown, PA back in the '70's. I was totally unprepared but did get him to the boat before he decided he didn't want to play anymore. Take this feeling and multiply it by 10, 000 when you finally land one. It is an experience!

I never rooted harder for you to catch a fish Leo! I landed one on 8 Lb, test, but it was winter, and it was sluggish. The only one I've ever caught.

You should try some European-style pike fishing lures to catch your musky lifer. I recommend you to get yourself a Rapala X-rap Haku (pike jerkbait) and a Panther Martin "fiocco rosso" size 28 (legendary pike spoon). And most important, some long-reach pliers to unhook the fish. The Esox is always lurking in current brakes, cool water rich in vegetation; they might not want to bite your lure, but they're always out there, just NEVER give up on them. I know you'll get your hands on one of those beauties ;)

Don't feel bad about losing that musky. I lost one after it destroyed my steel leader. Once they are hooked, the clock starts for something to fail.

I know that setup can handle big fish! I got the same setup because you reccomended it, to use for micro fishing and bait fishing. Using teeny tiny fish bite pieces on a trout magnet to catch pinfish for bait I ended up hooking a huge black drum. Took forever to land it and it was a heck of a fight but I managed to bring it in. 32-37lbs was the range on folks digital scales. I only had 2lbs line on mine at the time as I had it for very tiny fish and bait, never expected it! I bet if you had that spinner on a wire leader you could have landed it eventually. I feel for you, toothy fish have their ways of breaking our hearts.
