What's your experience been with the Mirage Hotel & Casino?

One thing that I will always remember about Mirage, and this will sound a bit odd, is that it had a very unique and pleasant aroma/scent throughout the casino floor.

The loss of the Mirage is a big loss to the strip.

Nice tribute Jacob. I remember Steve Wynn faced a lot of skepticism from Wall St when he built the Mirage. It was a hugely extravagant at the time and investors didn't think it could succeed. But after it took off, others followed. It was the beginning of the megaresort era in LV.

was just there. The gardens and landscaping and the dome still looks incredible.

I just visited The Mirage this past week. I almost cried leaving. It was such a special place!

The Mirage was really the first mega resort on the Strip. Sure, you had Caesars and MGM but the Mirage was way ahead of its time.

Can not get enough of the old time photos of the beginnings of these iconic structures. Wish I could go back in time and experience their grandeur.

I’ll miss this iconic hotel. All the hotels are starting to look alike now. There was just something so magical about the Mirage from the moment you walked in. Really hate to see it go🥲

I live in Las Vegas, and I go to the Station Boulder Casino for movie and Burger King. That Burger King was 1/2 to 2/3 the price of the food court across the casino. its closed down now, being replaced by something else. I was a oasis of cheap food in a casino. I miss the cheap buffet, you know less than 10 dollars. Well, another corporate choice that make me eat outside and away from casinos. The people in charge who earn over 100, 000 dollars don't understand what the local average person spends to eat

I was there in 1990- it was such a beautiful property! I had no idea how lucky I was to stay there.

Never stayed there, but this place blew me away in the 90s. Not just the volcano and the landscaping out in front, but the tropical feel inside, the huge aquarium and of course the gardens. They had what no other casino could offer. The buffet was also great and well priced. It is all just a memory now.

I grew up in SoCal and my first exposure to Vegas was driving out there with my family to see the Mirage. It saddens me that it's over. Great video bro.

Never forget when the Mirage grounds were still a work in progress, my wife and I were living in California at the time, and we came out to Vegas for a brief stay. When we drove by the Mirage, there were acres & acres of palm trees and other plants all located in the area where primarily the volcano and waterfalls would all be, but even beyond that. Never seen so much foliage, it was like a true tropical forest in the middle of the desert. We actually thought some of it was being held for other properties, but of course learned later that every one of them was for the Mirage itself. And once the resort was completed, yes it began the transformation of Vegas from being a great gambling city to a mega luxury resort destination.

We loved to be able to come in and see a couple of tigers through the glass. And the animals were so fun to see!! My favorite were the dolphins!! I loved their store too! Going to miss this place.

Stayed there in June 1990 on our honeymoon traveling from Australia. Went to see Siegfried and Roy which was a tremendous show. Also saw Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman there not long after they started dating. The crowds of people watching the volcano erupting each night were huge. It was a special place which holds many happy memories.

It’s so sad to see it’s gone. No one’s expected … I still remember my first time in LV and visited Mirage in 1991, even i was not old enough to gamble . Mirage was so beautiful luxurious Casino and still so Grand New Casino…..

This was the first place I stayed in Vegas. It was the first place I took family members. Over the years I stayed other places but always had a soft spot for the mirage. Steve Wynn (excepting his obvious issues) was an absolute genius. I’ve read many accounts of him building the mirage, imo it would make a fantastic book. Great vid Jacob, it isn’t always cool to give Wynn his proper respect these day. He deserves it for changing the game with the mirage.
