RABBIT HOLE ... well I rode to where they killed sheriff Pat Garrett. Tried to take the same route he took. After further investigation there is a lot to this story.

Thanks so much for coming along on the journey with me! It just wouldn’t be the same without you!

Old South Dog Boxes

These guys build the best dog boxes I’ve seen!

I was looking around for a company that made dog boxes that would fit in my Side by Side and couldn’t find anything.

I got in touch with Old South Dog Boxes and they are able to make custom builds!

They are building me a dog box that will fit exactly what I need.

They make a diverse range of dog boxes, dog trailers, and bird rigs for bird hunters.

Check them out and let them know that Brett from Born 100 Years Too Late sent you!

Skito Saddle Pads

I was in the market for a new saddle pad after my old one wore out.

Agnes, my riding mule, has a bad back and it makes a big difference to have a good saddle pad.

Ellis Canvas Tents

I reached out to Ellis Canvas Tents because I was just not too happy with my sleep system. I had seen their products before and was really impressed with the "Cowboy Bedroll". They sent me one to try and can say that so far it is the best I have used for Cowboy Camping.

Soon I hope I can get one of their Canvas Tents

Mountain Ridge Gear

I have been using Mountain Ridge Gear for many years now. From their Saddle Bags, Horn Bags and all the accessories I haven't found anything yet that is as well thought out and functional as their gear. Now I have a pair of their pack panniers and love them

Brett, I watched several of Steve, ’s (sidetrack adventures) videos and researched stories. I think he does a great job, interesting history. You and your cameras, drones, gps’s etc add to your adventures and stores of the wests lore….Thanks again……👍🤠. I have over time collected some good old books of the west. Love the stuff.

I kinda think that Pat Garrett was a bully and a back shooter. That is what I think. Good stuff right here. Thanks for Sharing. 😊

If you haven't already done so, look into whether pat Garrett really killed Billy the kid. Talk about rabbit holes! Like you, I find it interesting.

Smart mule! She wasn't pawing because she was bored. She was pawing trying to move that little bit of hay closer to eat!

My daughter lived out there on Dunn road. Not to far from that marker. I wanted to go find it, I never did. People say there’s always fresh Flowers out their ether real or plastic. He still has descendents in Dona Ana county. An old Rancher friend of mine over at Animas told me that his grandad had the livery in Organ in those days. He said that his Dad and 2 of his brothers were on their way back from Dona Ana with a load of hay, and came upon that murder. The body was covered, and lotsa people had showed up by then. My great grandad meant Garrett in 1898. My great grandad was only 14 working for freighters between Hope and Tularosa. He said Garrett and 2 deputies traveled with them for a day, then camped with them. He never believed Garrett killed the kid. He always thought that the Sante fe ring wanted and paid him too, because the kid was bringing national attention to their corruption. His death was faked, Garrett wrote a big BS story. And the kid died an old man in Prescott after living in Ramaha NM, his whole life. Well that was his story. Good vid, Brett. Keep that NM history coming.

It’s me again… I just remembered that my grandad told me about 30 years ago, that grandma Ikard was a Fountian. Her dad and brother were the Father and son you were talking about, that disappeared between Lincoln and Cruces. Grandpa would have made a hell of a u tube interview.

I’m going to read your links. Western history fascinates me. I live in AZ and grew up in NE. I’m a prairie girl-Arizonan via Texas in between, so I have lived these places. How about some good Native Am stories with links and corresponding mule journeys to them???!!!😊

My aunt Ima was the postmaster and ran a cafe/general store in Hope in the early 70s and lived on the Teal ranch with uncle Bee for 60 years. I heard a lot of these stories growing up never thought much of Garrett due to these stories. The only thing I know is there is no hope for hope. Good story and very enjoyable. Thank You for sharing.

Enjoyed that story . I never knew the Pat Garrett / Billy the Kid saga happend around Las Cruces area. I've seen several different old movies about them. That just got by me, glad to see you talk about it. Looked like Bonnie was wanting some more hay or something while you were talking . Kind of got a kick out of that ! 8 ) Funny, I watch another YT channel out of Las Cruces , you might even know the guy. His channel I called " Muddy Water Catfishing " Kris, Umm can't think of his last name. You wouldn't believe the big ole flathead catfish he catches out of the Rio Grande ! Well, thanks for showing us the grave site and the story !

That’s one place in that country I never actually stopped by and looked at. My father had old Polaroids of the site from the early 70’s…. Think I might just head there the next time I visit Las Cruces…I read the book about Colonel Fountain way back and I actually married a descendent of Oliver Lees… I didn’t know that until after we were married and then I gave her crap about it. I might ask some of the folks, if I ever see them again, what their oral history about their family that came from that mess of people you named in this video. I know one of those families descendants that owed my parents a huge sum of money from their charge account. I asked my mom about it way back and she told me that the man told them ( my dad and my mom) that he didn’t pay his wife’s bills… my mom finally burned the old box of unpaid charge accounts from many folks in that area… but that one family always had that stigma that hung over their heads with myself… some 55 years later
