*Some context:*

MCM Comic Con gave me press passes to do some coverage of the weekend, so having never done this before I thought I'd just go Gonzo-style/Louis Theroux with it and make this guerrilla short documentary, if you can loosely call it that. I haven't made a film like this in YEARS, so after spending 8 hours making it, now I really want to make more!

I try to go to every comic con that I can. This year was my first year cosplaying but the energy is always amazing. The cosplay is always great and people are so nice.

I've been going to conventions since 2013 and every single one I've ever been to have left different impressions on me some were brilliant others not so much, my biggest issue with cons in general are increasing prices which really isn't a wise move because not everyone is rich and you're just gonna put people off attending. Everyone goes to comic cons for different reasons and my reason is to enjoy the experience, have a blast and meet guests I've always wanted to meet in person, I have so many cherish moments like the time I met Robert Englund at Showmasters Manchester back in 2015.

Spotted myself walking onscreen in my bedsheet Leper get-up around 5:10. Good stuff. I usually go just for the atmosphere and to cosplay, had a ton of fun yet my costume went to pieces during the stage show. Ironically comedic considering the character portrayed was a leper.

I have to say, Comic-Con is my Christmas. A celebration of whats good about humanity with an amazing inclusive atmosphere, where you try not to let the cynical commercialisation of the event take over. I think its attractive because you can really express a genuine enthusiasm and passion for something, without being rejected and considered the outsider for doing so, and you can show a side of yourself that wouldnt be deemed acceptable or normal by the rest of society the rest of the time. >D WUBBALUBBADUBBDUBB

Interesting perspective Ryan. But I don't know. "Subverting normality"? Not when all of this fantasy is the biggest selling worldwide product in the media. The Belfast Comicon is clearly just a new franchise of a rising global subculture. I understand what you mean about the sincerity and enthusiasm. But it also seems to feed a lack thought as well, which must include some critical questioning. Could you have been seduced by the cuddly vibes?
