The excavation of hobs barrow was such a good game! One of the best story in gaming period! The ending was top tier

I absolutely love detective type games where I have to gather info/clues, read things, piece together what happened, and act accordingly. I can’t get enough of games like that

They didn't retcon Monkey Islands 3 to Tales!
Also I'd add The Procession to Calvary, made me laugh a lot more than Return to MI in a fraction of the playtime

Each list is a universe, but can't believe someone would make a list of adventure games of the past half decade without KRZ Act 5.

Honorable mentions that aren't here: Norco, Genesis Noir, Mutazione, If Found, Unreal Life. Even Spiritfarer and Outer Wilds which are more adventure game than anything else. Hell I would have expected Unreal Life to 100% make it into a list for this channel, given the preference for pixel art.

Unpacking was definitely a beautiful game very neat and so satisfying but I thought of it as puzzle games like a little to the left and assemble with care, lost in play was a very enjoyable little adventure, a space for the unbound is on the list and everytime I see it I remind myself that I must get to it soon
