how many times per week should i do this if i have knee tendonitis

I was given this exercise by a physical therapist. I was told to swing one foot out then take the other foot and put them side-by-side and then swing opposite foot out and put the feet the feet together and do this over and to do this exercise 4 to 5 days a week. The exercise is called the monster walk so I'm not sure if this exercise is being done right because this is not the way of my physical therapist told me to do it!
