Who was Bahira?

Brubaker answers a viewer question about "the Legend of Sergius Baḥīrā," a 2009 book by Barbara Roggema. He uses the occasion to give a wider reflection on the topic, to show a variety of biographies of Muhammad, and to discuss the biblical context or framework of some of the details that exist in the Bahira account, both in the Biography of Muhammad by Ibn Iṣḥaq / Ibn Hisham, and also in the later Syriac and Arabic recensions published by Roggema.

There was no Mecca during Bahira's time or Muhammad's time. Historical account and present day archeology is not conclusive. Historical writings of other known and famous cities do not refer to Mecca as a booming trade or centre of civilization as claimed by tradition being the place of Adam Eve and where Abraham destroys idols and builds the Kabah.
Building of the Kabah Is mysteriously missing in the Jewish writings which should be there . In which
case Isacc ( Israel )should have continued as his centre of worship.. Mecca today has nothing to prove that it was the place where Adam or Eve or Abraham and his sons were . .A huge black hole in the standard narrative

I’m a critical Muslim and native Arabic speaker. We need more people like Dr Brubaker. He’s very sincere and I’m honestly tired of two extremes. Like one extreme are Muslim scholars that blind folded follow the Muslim traditions and have no critical view and the other extreme like David wood and Jay Smith.
