Catching Bees Part 2 - Spring Project

Показать описание
Here is Part 2 of the Bee Swarm Trap series. My goal was to capture bees that were trying to build a hive in my house and transfer them to my top bar bee hive. So far the Swarm traps have been a success and hopefully taken residence in them. I'm not an expert in bees (or much of anything;), so please consult a professional if you have a similar situation. Please let me know if you have any questions or tips:)
Thanks for watching:)

Just goes to show you that the bait hive does not need to be fancy or exact. After all, bees in the wild find various size holes entering into varying size chambers such as an attic, hollow tree, old tire, etc. I am so glad you got some FREE BEES.

Nice!  Those look like a good sign there for sure!  You may need more hives at that rate!   Cheers!

That's awesome you did it... I find bee's all around my house. I was thinking of doing the same. Now that I've seen you do it. I just might try the same thing. L0L.

Lemongrass works !  you make a strong point about the AfracanizedHB I forgot that the southwest if full of em' you should totally get a professional helping you id those bees before any kind of transfer.  Congrats and good luck on the project.

ha! HA! welcome to the club of green cherries!I liked all three of your videos!

I am in the same process at the moment as two of my original nucs are going strong and are close to deciding about a swarm.

I used the usual Langedorf frames but am interested in trying foundationless top bar ones.
Keep up your great videos!

That’s pretty awesome. I’ve been watching your videos and getting some great ideas for my own house. I have bees too and they swarm almost yearly. Not Africanized though. Pretty tame Italian bees.
Have you considered a bathouse. Bug control made easy.

you do not mention any food to keep them from to  1 sugar/water mix.     I left mine in the bait box for 2 weeks to settle and get organized by then they will have built some comb.  Transfer the bars undisturbed into your top bar..hope this helps!
