Audio Technica M30X: Budget kings or meh? (compared to M50x)

--Hi there! This is just a quick video comparison between the Audio Technica M30x and the M50x. While I do think there's a large price difference between these two headphones these are worth comparing and I include my subjective thoughts on both of these headphones.

I've had my m50x for 10+ years. The headband and the earpads started deteriorating, and I replaced those, but this headphone still performs. It's a great all-arounder and really, in my opinion, a BIFL (buy it for life) because it's so useful. If you are going to keep a headphone for a long time, just spend the extra $ for the m50x you can keep, sell, or hand down later and your money is well-spent!

The M30x and M40x have the same flat response, the M50x are bass boosted and there for don't give a accurate representation of the sound. M30x and M40x can be used for production, mixing, mastering and tracking vocals. The M50x are best for singers or rappers to use as monitors in the sounds booth and that's it.

honestly, these days i’d 100/100 times rather just get some Etymotic ER2s (SE is fine, XR is better) if I ever needed strictly monitoring and isolation.

M30s are fragile and the attached cable is a drag, not to mention the *terrible* comfort quality of their cheap pleather and relatively small ear cups. M50s are… better. but still not great. as far as closed-back over-ear monitors, the AKG K371 is the same price as M50s, sounds better, and is more comfortable at the cost of having slightly spotty quality control.

The m50x’s have been my go to for 6 years now and I haven’t found anything budget I like. Actually that’s a lie the shp9600 but they are open back and probably don’t hold up to trained critical ears.

M30x is more flatter for pure mixing and mastering therefore it;s more accurate
