I went to Yellowstone this past summer, saw one run right in front of our car chasing a calf. The calf jumped a wire fence and tripped (we had just left the park) the bear started mauling it trying to rip out its spine, then it went for the guts ripping them out while the poor baby screamed in absolute agony. The saddest part was its whole family was crying and the mother raced to its rescue but didn’t know how to stop it. The bellowing from the family and the screams from the baby were heartwrenching. I know a bear has to eat but seeing how long it took to die was the difficult part to witness. I asked my parents to leave it was so sad. I live with horrible chronic pain I have a hard time seeing people or animals suffer.

Statement: 5 grizzly bears are ONLY hunting humans in Wyoming. A grizzly bear needs to consume around 20, 000 calories per day in the late summer and fall to prepare for hibernation. There are 10 fatalities listed between 2020-2024 and the majority of those were in Alaska and Canada, and none listed in Wyoming. Even if we grant that the 4 Montana attacks were the result of these Wyoming bears, 4 people in 4 years spread out among 5 bears needing 20K of calories a day at peak winter prep time results in 5 dead bears. The statement is absurd.

I live in Wyoming, and yes there are more grizzlies here than necessary for them to remain listed. However, I've never heard of any hunting humans...

I live and hunt Wyoming in Bear Country and its getting pretty scary when you get an Elk down and have to clean it and get it out!! Grizzlies smell the blood and even hear the shots and respond!! I have been lucky twice! I had a patient Grizzly wait a few minutes for me to get that last meat cut off and loaded out and I was near a trail that had my UTV to load it into!! No way I'm ever hiking in to hunt anymore!!

That's because grizzlies tend to live in the woods and mountains where they can find prey. Like sharks in the ocean, bears are simply living in THEIR territory🤔

They're probably the bears who can't compete with the other bears for terriroral access to salmon. I can't imagine we taste as good as salmon to them.

The only salmon species found in Wyoming is the Kokanee which is found in other states and provinces in Canada along with a couple of other countries. The Kokanee is at best a minimal source of nutrition for the bears. They're just isn't enough for the bears to get full. Plus, , bears are not sitting at trailheads waiting for the next unsuspecting hiker to amble by. We all know they prefer mountain bikers!
