I agree with John O'Brien's comment. I have been using this unit for over 3 years and find for the low temp cooks that leaving the top vent just barely open and then adjusting the bottom between the number 1 and number 2 setting to work best. These results with lump charcoal, other fuels may vary. Also as a side note it is really nice to have a wireless thermometer to keep an eye on the temp. These types of grills are very finicky at lower temps but they are well worth the effort in my opinion. Love it.

Hadn't thought to try it with just the bottom damper open. But I do enjoy using my Kamado Kooker and this channel has some decent tips.

I don;t know about anyone else but my fire goes out with the top baffle closed and the bottom on 2

I never cold get a steady temp with my Akorn.

I find it next to impossible to to keep the temperature stable. It goes up and down easily 20F.
The thermometer on the grill is at least 25F off (too low) compare with my digital thermometer!

Careful with that bottom damper. The screw that secures it breaks with time and all the heat and then of course it's harder to regulate the temp.
