Leorio is a GREAT character, actually | Hunter X Hunter Month

Everyone always thinks this character gets the short end of the stick, or that Togashi simply doesn't know how to write him. I say BULL FEATHERS. This character is brilliant and unique.

Leorio is the only one of the main characters whose core motivation doesn't change, hence why *he* doesn't change much. He wants money so that he can be a doctor and run a free hospital, so that other people won't suffer the same fate his best friend did. At the most basic level, Leorio wants to help people. The people he's close to are higher up on his list, obviously, but his caring nature isn't limited to only his friends.

Leorio's overall goals are surprisingly idealistic for someone whose attitude on the surface seems so cynical. That's not something he *needs* to develop out of. If that core goal of his ever did change, it would be jarring and feel at odds with his established character; not to mention being extremely narratively unsatisfying.

His presence is not finished I hope…I hope lerorio can at least—aid a disfigured kurapika with his own nen. As his nen deals with medical and healing. I hope and pray he can save kurapika with them both living at the end. Even if it leaves leorio the last one to have nen or keep in control. I pray it bc I can’t think of a more cry/sobbing ending that feels more connected than that somehow. To not include him in the ending is a crime. It leaves a circle unconnected. Leorio deserves a time to shine…regardless not having him at the end would feel stupid imo….bc he’s always been important. When will that be also important when the mains are out of time? Leorio will hold a key. Hopefully.
