How to clean a chimney flue

I bought a cheap drill Powered Chimney brush on eBay and it works amazing. I've used it many times and had it for a few years.

Where did you say you purchased this from?, as I would like to purchase such an item.
I’m in Auckland NZ.
I just had my flue cleaned by a so call professional a couple of weeks ago, lit my second fire of the year the other day, noticed the flue just below the ceiling line was turning red, I shut the fire down, crapped my self and was wondering how I could tell the wife I had burnt the house down.
Lucky there was no damaged, I waited a day and cleaned my flue from the top down standing on the roof, with a standard flue brush from Mitre 10, plenty of soot came out of the flue, the brush was not that much good but did the job.
With one of these items I would follow your lead do a second clean at the the mid winters point.
