i think since it's an amp you have yo connect it only on the return of the Fx loop otherwise you would be doubling amps.

Do you still have this pedal? They released an update that fixes the impulse response and it sounds like it’s a huge improvement on the sound. Might actually fix the “plug-in” sound you hear.

To be more fair and get a similar sound to your fenderish pedal, why didnt you try the TC Combo Deluxe which is a Fender model?

What is your signal chain? Are you driving this through a guitar pre-amp ?

The TC ampworx are modeling a tube guitar pre-amp and non of them will ever sound good through a guitar pre-amp which has a highly non-linear amplification. By putting the ampworx in to your pre-amp, it is the same as daisy chaining two analog tube amps; it just wont work!

If you want a similar sound as in the headphones out you should use the non-cab-sim out in to an FX return on your amp, this way you will only drive the more linear part of your amp, which is the power amp section. Moreover, if you use the cab-sim out it is meant for mixing console, studio speakers or direct recording as you suggest. Keep up the good work!

The JoYo pedals are quite good, I use the British one into my Fender Vibro Champ, it worked as good and even better at some settings than the PedalPal Pal800 v3, with the British JoYo I was able to get a greater variety of amp models and the tone controls have greater effect on tweaking tone. For my Fender amp the British JoYo just completed it better, the Pal800 v3 did not offer that much more for the price increase (JoYo $40, Pal800 v3 $275).

Have you considered the possibility that you are underpowering it? The TC takes 300 mA whereas the Joyo takes 3, 8 mA. So your power supply may not have enough amperage to make it work properly ?

The great thing about different ears. They all hear differently. I love my American sound and California sound but I also love this along with my Boss FBM1 Bassman pedal. At least you are honest and not a pedal snob 👍

I got the 65 Deluxe and whilst it is very nice, it adds a noticably hiss...drives me nuts and I will return it sadly. Maybe it is my cheap power supply but with gain etc it is too much for me!

Interesting. I previously purchased both the UAFX Dream '65 and Ruby '63 and felt the same; something about these Joyo pedals that just do it for me but not the UAFX pedals. To me, the Joyo sounded better somehow that I got rid of the UAFX pedals. Best thing you can with these is stick a Cab Sim pedal and then to your audio interface. The Joyo pedal does sound better with a Cab Sim (the so-called built-in cab sim is just a high pass filter rather than an IR)
