Mortal Kombat is technically also banned in Japan. They only had the first 3 games released in Japan, with MK ‘92 being the only one in Arcade there, MK2 and 3 were on consoles only. They did plan to release MK4 and Deadly Alliance to Japan, but because they progressively got more brutal, they ultimately stopped. Nowadays, you can still get Mortal Kombat games in Japan, but only via import stores and Steam since the age rating they use only applies to consoles, so Steam is unaffected.
