That piece was inspired from the 6th ep. of MLP: FiM season 8.
The episode has a metaphor of divorced parents, I guess? And, that's why Terramar had a rough time to choose between land (harmonizing heights) or sea (seaquestria). The problem didn't end if he decided where to live. It was also about the feeling itself. That feelin' of "lettin' someone down" every time he decided to choose.

But, I'm glad to see his parents still be friends. That's pretty rare to see a divorced couple being nice to each other. And that's a good moment to see both of his parents resolve his worries.

I think s8e6 is a good episode. Although, I feel Hasbro made a too simple and sugary coated on divorced metaphor (or maybe because of Terramar's is in the royal family of hippogriffs, they tend not to did something bad and silly).
I generally find some of the divorced couples have a rough time to meet each other. Sometimes, they force their children to choose on their side (deliberately or not). And, it's not a rare moment when one of that parent tell their children about the bad side of the other parent. Hell yeah. Welcome to the nightmare.
