The co-hosts of "The View" had a lot to say about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars. Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar and Ana Navarro shared their unfiltered opinions on the jaw-dropping 2022 Academy Awards altercation. The "King Richard" star shocked viewers on Sunday night when he got out of his chair and smacked the comedian across the face after he made a joke about the hair of Jada Pinkett Smith, who suffers from alopecia.

Chris Rock was the shining star of the Oscars this year. No one can take that away from him.
His handling of the incident was amazing.

An apology is just not enough. This was an assault on national/global television.

Chris really handled this whole thing with so much grace. It’s just a testament to his character 100% my kids could learn from this finally an actor with self-control and dignity

I wonder what would've been said if Chris caught Will backstage or mid conversation at the after party and popped him across the damn head with a mop? That was totally disgusting of Will & Whoopi for defending that

if we all slapped someone for saying something we didn't like we'd all be getting slapped every day

"We're not gonna take that Oscar from him..."
Actions have NO consequences for the elite; and yes, Will Smith is a privileged elite.

"We're not going to take that from him". Hey Whoopi, you don't speak for the entire Academy - that's your OPINION.
Why was the part about the "optics" of hauling off a black man, said by Whoopi, not in this video? Why take that out?

Lets all imagine for a moment some white actor goes and slaps a black comedian. Whoopi would be outraged. He would not excuse that by saying… he had a moment 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Why did he laugh at the joke initially and then when he saw Jada's face, he became violent? No excuse.

All credit to Chris Rock for handling it so well with class.

whoopi: he didnt act as we expect someone to act under pressure and I have acted poorly before. whoopi its people like you that condone violence, and make excuses for it based on feelings which is subjective.

Miraculously, even right after the assault till the end, Chris Rock kept his both hands hands behind his back. This means absolute peace.

It wasn't an altercation. It was an assault.

What’s scary is Will was so self righteous that he felt comfortable to assault Chris then walk off the stage with a smile.

How Arrogant of Whoopi to speak on behalf of the Entire Academy to state: “We aren’t taking his Oscar away!”

So let me get this straight….. we give our hard earned money to Hollywood so they could tell us how to live and behave, but we the little people can’t point out a clear-cut case of assault and battery? #CancelHollywood

I wonder what Whoopi’s reaction would be if someone walked up to her during the taping of The View and slapped her for making, what they thought, was an inappropriate comment?

Will was laughing at Chris' joke at first

When Will Smith stormed onto the Oscar stage to strike Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife's short hair, he did a lot more damage than just to Rock's face. With a single petulant blow, he advocated violence, diminished women, insulted the entertainment industry, and perpetuated stereotypes about the Black community.

Jada is upset at a GI Jane joke seriously!
Will was a showoff and it’s about his ego!
Snapped my butt, get it right Whoopi, it was his ego. Watch his demeanor when he walked away after the slap and the rage and arrogance when he was screaming with explicit.
Stop finding excuses for deplorable behavior!
