Harnessing Your Human Nature for Success with Robert Greene

Today we welcome back on the show the 6x international bestselling author, Robert Greene. Robert has had huge impact in my life with books like Mastery, 48 Laws of Power, and the 33 Strategies of War.
And in this episode we go deep on his newest book - and my new favorite - The Laws of Human Nature, a brilliant consolidation of the various theories on human nature - how to better understand them and use them to grow.

We dive deep into:

* You are a lot weirder than you think you are. WE ALL ARE in fact. We’re repressing so many sides of who we are - most often without even knowing it. We’re trying to stand out. We’re trying to fit in. The stuff we repress and try to hide are like a stranger within us.

* Knowing all this - and how to navigate it - gives us personal power.
It it possible to harness our "dark side" for increased creativity, wisdom, strength and character? Robert argues that, not only is it something worth tapping into, it’s THE source of power missing in your life.

* Robert’s recent near-death experience has given him a profound sense of gratitude, how it has compelled him to be more patient and has challenged him to apply the advice he offers to others.

* That ugly, self-sabotaging voice in our head…how to manage and counteract it to increase joy and personal performance. it’s no surprise that we create our own circumstances by the attitudes we have (self-perpetuating) - but Robert gives us new strategies to change our own attitudes.

In short - this interview is a doozie. We cover the parts of Human Nature that you’ve had a hunch about but never had the guts to dig into, for fear of what you might find. Robert has done this research for us - in a heartfelt and nuanced way - and delivers us to the doorstep of answers that surprise, frighten, delight, and most definitely makes us think.

Enjoy!

It is very simple...you slow down and observe him)her like he/she is the most important person in the world. And them you listen to him/her like you are in the most interesting conversation in the world.
And then, you will see how amazing the world is.
Long time ago, I decided that I will only take beautiful pictures in Flint, MI. It was the most incredible mental exercise I have done because I started seing all the beauty that was there. And it was a lot.
Then, last summer I decided to take one picture a day of my flowers in my garden and put it on Facebook. It was the best gardening experience I have in the 25 years I lived in that house because I was there in the present moment enjoying what the garden was giving to me

Im envious of the fact he has the time to read so many books. I love reading but my time tries to keep me from it. I need to do better with my time.

Chase, you did absolutely amazing as an interviewer.
The way you shaped the encounter and in the end assisted Robert in giving an absolutely brilliant finishing monologue was beautiful.
Thank you.
