I worked at Tesla starting in July of 2017 as an Operations Analyst out of the Bethlehem, PA distribution center facility and left as a Program Manager based out of Austin, TX as of September 2021. I spent most of my time in the distribution and supply chain organizations.

Before Tesla, I was a Director of Business Intelligence and Pricing at the largest Pet Food & Supply distributor in the US, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies based out of Easton, PA. My wife and I also owned a small business in Bethlehem, PA between 2016 and 2019.

I have been a shareholder of Tesla since 2012 and currently own Tesla stock. Nothing I say constitutes as investment or financial advice.

My thoughts are my own and are not representative of everyone who currently works, or has worked at Tesla.

It’s crazy how this book isn’t blowing up yet. The Hidden Codex of the Financial Alchemists on Bevelorus is packed with real gems.

As I discussed this topic with my wife she replied: “but I don’t want to die from Skynet”. My response to her was that it was like saying “ but I don’t want to get scorched by the sun when it comes up in the morning “ The only option is to guard against getting scorched. 😉

Don't forget a lot of factory tasks can be done tethered. Aka no charging restrictions.

I'd buy one just to pull weeds, do dishes and laundry lol. That alone would be worth it.

Honestly, I think intellectual pursuits and trying to advance space travel will become way more popular

3:52 "IF A ROBOT CAN'T DO ANYTHING WE CAN" ... "WHAT DO WE DO?"
lol wut

why do you have to wait for the robot to charge? if it's a work station it can be plugged in all the time, so the only downtime would be for maintenance, but if the robot knows it needs maintenance it can unplugged it self and another can take it's place.

Boston Dynamic's comparable robot is way ahead of Tesla's, in terms of physical operation. It's movements can easily be mistaken as human. But I don't think that they've put any major development into autonomy and environmental awareness yet.

Please, stop click bait titles. It is getting annoying. Every day ‘it’s over’ or ‘it’s done’. Love your content and sophisticated discussions. You don’t need to do click bait every time.

Why would the batteries not be hot swappable?

When I was a kid in the 1980s, I would work summer jobs as a data entry clerk. I was in an office full of typists doing similar things on electric typewriters. I remember when the first word processor came about and there was debate about what would happen to typists and typewriters, typewriter manufacturers, ribbon manufacturers etc. Well, as technology changed the world going into the 90s, new jobs and skills arised and the unemployment rate went down, not up. And those typewriter companies? Well, companies like Xerox are still around today.

If my memory is correct, Carl Jung's 1984 spoke about this happening and that the world would become a new era of gaming and playing where people would do such things for a living. I've heard from my son-in-law that he and a group of friends play only for fun, but that one of them does tournaments where they pay real money and there are championships for up to 100, 000$ grand prize every year or something like that. Ok, not everyone will get to play for that now, but it could very well become a thing in a more general sense at some point in the future. Who knows if we'll be alive to see it...

So, if you lose your job to a Robot, the severance package of the future might include a free or reduced priced personal robot given to you, which would then be hired by either your original company or another company to work for you while you are looking for a job or being re-educated for a new job. ( and the per hour income might be half previous rate or the market rate, but would be for 40 or 80 hours of work or up to 7 days a week at as many hours as possible).

My car is a robot, and knows more about driving than I do

No one ever seems to mention it, but if a bot is going to be at a work station for more than a short period of time, there's no reason why it can be tethered so that it can recharge while it works. You can just shift bots around between different assignments depending on its level of charge. Those who need to recharge go to work stations where they can be tethered and those who are charged taking assignments requiring mobility. During those times when there is a shortage of charged bots, you keep a few humans around or have a few "excess" bots in reserve to handle the work requiring mobility. You'd probably want a few reserve bots on hand in case of breakdowns any way.

...and full self driving should be implemented "NEXT YEAR..."

If everyone is assigned a robot at birth that will serve the person for life, everyone can spend their time learning new things ( education) sports, hobbies, travel, etc.... robots can earn credits that can be traded for resources like housing, food, clothing, transportation, medical, etc ... Life will be like heaven on earth.

I fear most average people won't be able to afford/purchase a robot.
If robots become as useful and productive as we expect, big corporations will want them, thus pushing up demand and therefore price. It won't be abundance for all. As always, it's abundance for some.
