Huge sinkhole in North Philly sparks concern among residents

A SEPTA bus drove over a buckling sinkhole moments before it completely collapsed in the middle of a street in North Philly. Residents are expressing their concern and city officials provide an update.

There sink holes developing all over Philadelphia. I live in the Logan area, and there have been a lot of sink holes up this area there. 2 on my block, and the city is not doing anything. Where is the tax dollars going

It's almost always a water pipe causing these kinds of incidents. And that means that the utility KNEW the pipe was leaking because either they have monitors that detect such a thing at regular intervals OR they knew that some monitors weren't working, in which cause they MUST assume that the pipe(s) are leaking.

I crossed a road where a pipe had collapsed underneath and I said that I did not remember a divot here, next day road was closed. It wasn’t even close to this hole but still scary. Our country is so neglected.

The Streets Department. SMH. Sorry, sometimes they do shabby work, in a hurry, and it takes forever to repair. It happened on my street.

And as usual when these sort of things happen, rather than try and warn any oncoming cars these morons just gawk and record with their cellphones. A car driving into that hole could easily result in serious injury or death for its passengers.
