15 LARGEST Ocean Liners in the World

Not to be confused with cruise liners, ocean liners were once a sign of national pride, ingenuity, and opulence at the start of the Industrial Revolution. World superpowers were doing their best to build bigger, faster, and fancier ocean liners, with the hopes of outdoing their predecessors. The more successful ocean liners would make transatlantic trips in a matter of days, ferrying the rich, poor, and everyone in between across the waters. And while these vessels were truly sights to behold, there is now only one left in existence. And while it may be a sad fact, the memories of these bygone liners still hold true. So join us for today’s video, where we look at the 15 most massive ocean liners.

Correction. QE2 is docked in Dubai. QE #1 died in Hong Kong.

As an ocean liner buff, I developed a very sudden belly ache viewing this. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one.

Normandie was actually larger than Raffaello and even Queen Mary. Normandie was also 1, 029 ft long

uhh, yeah.. you're facts on the "QE2" are a lil wrong.. you're talking about the Queen Elizabeth, not the Queen Elizabeth 2. That ship lead a very different life lol

also how the heck could you forget the Queen Mary? she WAS the largest ship in the world at one point, and is the only true ocean liner of the 30s to be preserved... like.. c'mon.. she's in Long beach, LA and deserves some more attention

There are 3 ocean liners in the world and 2 of them are stationary hotels and museums. The Queen Mary 2 is the only one in service today.

Wonderful video and the footage. A couple of details, if I may: 1) It's "Aquitania" with an "i" (an old region in France) not "AquAtania with an "a", as if related to water; 2) The "Queen Elizabeth 2" never caught fire and is currently a hotel at Dubai; it was the "Queen Elizabeth" of 1940, the largest ship in the world in that moment and one of the biggest of all times and which served a very long and distinguished career, along wit the Queen Mary (of 1938) both as very fast passenger liners and troopships during WW2, and again as passenger liners after the war. The Queen Elizabeth was sabotaged and intentionally set on fire at Hong Kong bay in 1972 while being converted into a floating university, by then being renamed "Seawise University". Thanks a lot for the video, I'm an old fan to those old splendid liners.

You discuss Queen Elizabeth whist showing pictures of the QE2! The QE2 did not serve as a troop ship in WW2 nor did it catch fire in Hong Kong! It is now a hotel somewhere

Also, Bremen and Europa were smaller than Leviathan and Bismarck

Well, you have many mistakes. First, in my opinion, this list isn't correct, and there are some mistakes on the ships's careers. Also, you are making some pronunciation mistakes. I can say this, because I'm on ocean liner fan, and know these things. Please, don't get me wrong- I don't want to offend you, or anyone else. You ae making videos on all topics, so, this is still a nice video. I enjoyed it.

Somebody didn't check their facts on this one!

You really stuffed up on the Queen Elizabeth! All your footage is of the QM2, which was the Ocean Liner that replaced the two original Cunard Queens, Elizabeth and Mary!

Not bad but some of the information is very twisted

1: Normandie was 1, 029 feet long
2: Queen Elizabeth 2 was not an RMS, she was an MS, and you're mixing up information with RMS Queen Elizabeth

Even when it s a sad story there s something unique with the titanic built as the biggest ship but will stay as the biggest name in term of ship popularity . A name that so big no other ship can dethrone it

What the hell? You got your Queen Elizabeth’s wrong… you mixed up the history of the QE2 with that of the original Queen Elizabeth… you guys are usually better than this. Pull this video and make the correction.
