Показать описание
Yehudi Menuhin conducts the English Chamber Orchestra in a gala concert at Barbican Hall (in London's Barbican Centre) commemorating the 250th anniversary of the death of Antonio Stradivari, the legendary maker of string instruments. It was a fundraiser for the Royal Academy of Music held on Dec. 2, 1987.
All of the soloists and some of the members of the orchestra were playing Stradivari's instruments that evening; they dated from 1691 to the year of the great master's death in 1737.
This special broadcast on the Public Broadcasting System in the U.S. includes performances by Robert Cohen, Pinchas Zukerman, and Nigel Kennedy, conversations with Yo-Yo Ma and Anne-Sophie Mutter and stories inspired by Stradivari's marvelous instruments. I hope you'll Like and Share this. (The opening performances of the concert are missing from this video)
