I’m 58 years old, a woman, wife and mother. Never once have I had anyone tell me, “You’re a woman! Regardless of what anyone might say to you, remember…. You’re a woman.”

Nobody has to validate me. I know who and what I am. I also don’t feel the need to tell my friends that I agree with them, that they’re something they are not!

Fascinating choice of words. “my material experience tells me you’re wrong”. Where exactly does the “material” experience come in if materially you were born a man, but cosmetically want to change that? I’m not against people of legal age and emotional maturity choosing how they live their lives. But, Matt makes a great point that it’s not anyone else’s job to “assert” them.
