Green Hill Zone is no longer "simply a song", but rather the spirit of a time, the intimate essence of a being. It's the most sublime and immediately poignant/bittersweet synthesis of the spirit of videogames. It automatically brings about a sentiment of friendship, nostalgia and naivety of an epoch; the childish discovery of videogames as a nascent medium, with a lot still to be discovered along the way. It's a track so powerful that it is as if absence could be directly represented as a (forever lost) object. Something not even Nintendo's master composer, Mr. Koji Kondo himself, could ever accomplish. In other words, Green Hill Zone is not only a nice representation of videogames, it IS videogames. It is us in our deepest and most unconfessable hearts.

The original green hill zone music will always hit that perfect nostalgia nerve, reminding me of when I would go to my uncle's house and play sonic the hedgehog; streets of rage, golden axe and revenge of shinobi on the 6 pak; as well as sonic 2 and some super hard jurassic park game.

I listened to the original green hill zone recently, and it hit me with childhood memories so hard it made me want to cry :').
