Reminds me a bit of old 8bit music, around the nes era. Very nostalgic

Phil Keaggy and Jeff Beck are the only ones that I’ve seen do this with the volume knob. In fact Phil Keaggy would change out the volume knobs on his guitars for better control. Very nice!!

Hey, you are having fun.
I like your smooth cadence.
Strats are great for this. Jeff Beck seemed attached to the V knob!
I often take the V knob off strats, because it is in the way. Jimmie did this too.
Roy Buchanan, Danny Gatton, and Bill Kerchen did not wast volume knobs.
Bill is still moving air!
I came up with a few tricks here.
A treb pass comes in to play.
If you are interested, I will share.
My late '69s Framus 12 has switching that directs signal to a special Volume pot.
The knob has a finger shaped hook AND a return spring.
It is close by, allowing a pinky to operate it. The return spring is smooth and well planed. It is seamless and far from binary Bill Laurance design.
Here it is easy to tell, that you are listening and not a robot!
Peace Chris

Well, that answers my question to how are the volume swells achieved to the intro of the song Baker Street?😂

Planning to make a record this year and I think I’ve found the horn payer. I’d like to hire you xD

I have done this for so many years, following Jeff Beck’s example. You have the best melodic use of this technique. I am amazed! What kind of volume pot are you using on your guitar? You are going from completely quiet to a fine even volume on every note. Do you put rosin on the volume knob? Please teach me how you are doing it. I can send you a recording of how I do it. You are far away better than me, and I haven’t improved in a long time. Please

Kinda reminds me of Pat Metheny’s solo on Are You Going With Me

Jan Akkerman of Dutch Rock Band FOCUS was an incredible master of the “Swell” technique, on his Strat 🎸 i saw them Summer Of “71” at a Jersey Shore show * Phenomenal Gig ..!
I would have to say 50% of his Lead playing was “Swell” based 👏🏻
(And of course the encore was their big hit single HOCUS POCUS 🔮 🎸)

Wow. I love that playing style. What is the best style of knob to do it with?
