Modi has lost the chance to make India the global leader....infact now the popularity of Modi has substantially declined...even next tym it will be very difficult for india to again become non permanent member in UN...and permanent member bnne ka sapna toh ab modi chord hi de 😂..corona has showed the reality of Modi govt. and their capabilities...

Personal Opinion :- it is less likely, as being a global leader requires a country to having fixed policy, being bold and have heavy influence. The current global leader like USA possess all of this. China is the best contender to US presently, as taking away bias that we are indian and see policy of Xi from a general opinion favouring his state, his every move expresses how cleaver and how quality statesmen he is.
India, I would love to be superpower currently requires support from all countries, including countries where we might have difference of opinion. We still have territorial disputes which we are not keen on resolving and take example like Israel-Palestine, India had a mixed stand. And mind you India solely can't take up a war with China-Pakistan together and it needs allies. China, being a politician has played its pawns right, from being making neighbours of India anti India and pro china getting itself on our 4 sides

If India becomes superpower, I would see India supporting Israel and directly bombing terrorists inside pakistan and taking huge steps for it.

Thus, India needs a long way to be a "sole superpower" . However, India is a superpower in case of if we define superpower in terms of area of influence than being conventional defination which defines USA currently. But as per that whole EU and muslim world are superpowers too.

For being uno superpower, we need bold steps n policies, it might dissatisfy few section of society but for en large it's for good. We are itself trapped in our own internal problems and are divided amongst us. The biggest threat to India rise is the people of India only.

Thus, in conclusion, I would say india is emerging as a glowing country lighting the world but for being superpower, we need a long way and maybe a change in ideologies and perhaps the change in form of goverment itself as Democracy is india is stinking. We might be the largest democracy but we lack qualities of democracy which is compromised by appeasement politics, corruption, red Tapism.

Thus, if current trend continues, we see china overtaking US or atleast giving it tough contest making world bipolar again, we may like it or not. For India, either wait for 22nd century till when china US destroy each other or start reforms now. Serious reforms.
