It depends on how big and strong the fish you're going after are. A metal body reel won't flex as much under stress and keep gears and bearings in proper alignment.

Had both, good inexpensive reels but salt water corrosion destroyed both quickly despite regular service and cleaning. I upgraded to a Battle and never looked back.

I have 2 Penn wrath reels. That's really all I need. There's only a few minor differences between the pursuit and wrath. The wrath has the hex handle as opposed to a screw in. The wrath doesn't have HT 100 drags. The wrath has a thinner bail wire. The wrath has 2 shielded bearings as opposed to sealed on the pursuit. But at the end of the day, the wrath still gets the job done.

The Pursuit landed 3 14lb bonitos pretty quickly so I'd say it's worth it.

I got the Penn Pursuit IV combo and the rod broke on the 3rd cast. I love the reel, not bad for $60

i had some reels i found on the side of the road, thought they was trash without even looking at them. i saved up to buy the pursuit, a couples weeks later i looked in my closet at the “old trashed reels “ and to my surprised it was a brand new fierce iv 4000.. so now i have two good reels :)

I have both the pursuit casts further and is by far lighter I have the pursuit 4 6000 and fierce 3 8000 and I’ve have the fierce 5000 and 6000 the pursuit is superior in casting distance and smoothness

I love them both but my pursuit 4000 is my favourite. It seems smoother for bonefish and junior tarpon to 25 lb.

Fierce iv has definitely gone down in price today compared to when this video was made. I went with the fierce

Penn Pursuit iv is the nicer looking. I have the pursuit 2500HG but if i ever want to upgrade, i'll go for Shimano Miravel instead of Fierce or Battle. Or better get a Shimano Stradic or Vanford.

Buy both LE combos, medium light to medium. Sell the reels and keep the rods, those rods are legends
