This weekend's project.

Continuing the restoration of the 1962 DeWalt radial arm saw. Originally the on/off switch was on the saw so you had to reach towards the saw blade to turn it on or off. That was considered safe in the late '50s and early '60s haha. The switch was very old and worn out. Part of redoing the entire electrical system, I needed to construct this safer power control box. Plus, it just looks damn cool. Haha

The box is now down out of the way, yet easily accessible. The on button has a guard so it can't be accidentally switched on. The off button is easily accessible and can be hit with your hand to quickly shut off the saw.

The other three little switches are for future LED work lights for the new table top, saw and storage drawers.

You sure are making a Beautiful saw table. I have a 1975 10 inch Craftsman radial arm saw. I did have a really nice DeWalt 746 table saw, (cabinet saw) it took up way too much space in the middle of my shop. After I set up my radial arm saw, I sold the DeWalt. I really Love my R A S, but I sure wish it looked like the one you are restoring. Great thinking on the whole moving the switch decision. Keep up the good work.
Happy New Year

Is that a 925 or 925H? Beautiful! I love the LED option. I have a 1960 and 1961 925H. I placed a switch similar to yours on my GWI because the on/off switch is all the way in the back. Nice work!
