Trudeau makes first public remarks since Freeland’s departure

“I love this country,” said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, speaking at a Liberal Party fundraiser on Monday evening after a tumultuous day in Ottawa following Chrystia Freeland’s resignation as finance minister. Trudeau did not directly address Freeland’s shock exit, or calls for his departure from opposition leaders or Liberal MPs, but said it was “the absolute privilege of my life to serve as your prime minister.”
