Ball pythons are amazing snakes and in Ouidah, Benin, West Africa there is a voodoo temple where they worship ball pythons! Also known as Royal Pythons, the Temple of the pythons has tons of ball python residents and is one of the most unique temples I've ever toured! What a cool place. I don’t believe in any of the thousands of gods that humans have invented but at least when one prays to Ball Pythons, one knows they exist. It makes me so happy to see them mean so much to the people of the Voodoo religion. They’re taken care of and protected. 🐍❤️🐍

Very very cool Dav! Pretty fascinating actually. Just curious, did you ever ask them if they are aware of what people outside of the ball pythons native range are doing with them. Like, I wonder what they think about all the color morphs. I wonder if they would like them.

Very cool. You should visit the snake shrines of Japan. Might be a bit tricky to arrange but worth it according to the biologists I've met that have been given access. Several of them have entirely unique populations of snakes that have been cared for so long the timelines have been lost.

Africa is such a unique place. I wish the Congo was more tourist friendly. The Congo completely intrigues me. The fact that there are species there that most likely haven't been discovered. Then Kenya, good grief Africa is awesome LOL

It's interesting how the living snake is revered in that area of Benin, but in other areas of West Africa it's the dead body parts that are important.
