Putin has been asking UN for open discussions for years and they wouldn’t dialogue to him ( just like Trudeau did to the truckers ) now he gets there attention, sanctions won’t work India, China, Georgia etc will still trade with Russia.
UN asked Ukraine to dismantle there Nuclear weapons 8 years ago, they did now the UN won’t help them in the invasion . What’s happening in Canada is far more worse that the Ukraine . Like the UN planes landing just outside Ottawa the day before unmarked military force cracked down and assaulted peaceful protesters .Freezing accounts etc But of course the government funded mainstream media won’t be truthful

This escalation was easily avoided. Keep Ukraine neutral.

VDH is a national treasure. I wish that our current President would listen to him.

When explaining the issue as tough and difficult it may be Victor makes it so simple and easy. Great Guy.

I usually like what VDH has to say but right now he's literally repeating the same propaganda as mainstream media. It's quite disappointing.

I love VDH. But I disagree with him here. It’s disappointing he is aligned with the mainstream media. I’ve also seen Putin talk twice now about what is going on and I believe him. Something is rotten in the state of Ukraine.

The bottom line is that this is not our fight. Period.
The last thing we need is to be drawn into it.
Now, if "Soldiers of Fortune" want to respond to Zelensky's invitation, fine, but the U.S. Gov. should stay out of it.

The US government wouldn't accept Soviet missiles in Cuba & the very idea of Ukraine in NATO is the same thing. Currently the US is weak, being consumed by Woke culture. Feb.24th started nothing. The conflict has been ongoing since 2013, if not the 2010 US led regime change.

A very US-centric view. Not much to say about how the US set up this issue in the first place.
Not much to say about NATO breaking its promise not to move eastward.
Germany is still occupied by the US army, they don't need one of their own.
To top it off I love how he rattles off a few dozen US invasions like there were not the exact type of violation that everyone is now horrified about.

Victor Davis Hansen really disappoints me here

Sorry to hear Mr. Hanson just repeating the same talking points as the MSM . Russia has been warning NATO to stop its provocation for a long long time.
I was hoping he could bring something much more nuanced to the discussion … very disappointing.

For the first time ever, I have been disappointed with VDH's analysis. See: Hedges article: Chronicle of a War Foretold

While I usually find Victor on the money, I disagree with much of his assessment. I see Putin playing a long game where there are plans within plans, misdirection, and all the other classic things one needs as a successful KGB operative, which most people know Putin was. Additionally, people are quick to forget that Russians invented Chess, a game that requires looking forward many moves and making seemingly "expensive sacrifices" to achieve a win. I could be wrong, of course, but my money is on Putin having a very clear objective to all this, one we are likely not to be aware of until well after it's "too late", if ever. I know ordinary people in the Ukraine are paying dearly for whatever this game of Putin's is, but we would do well not to look at this situation in any superficial manner. The scamdemic allowed "them" to advance all manner of nasty things along way forward, including the likes of the Great Reset, the surveillance society, the breakdown of individual freedom and resistance to government overreach, to name but a few. The situation in the Ukraine will, once again, get the sheeple and hysterical lamestream media "looking the other way" while "they" move their ball forward another 10 or 20 yards. We live in the Age of Deceit. Trust nothing: Suspect foul play and dodgy motives from all in power.

Saying putin is shocked or confused is pure speculation .

A controlled economy is a defense liability. Yet it is statist mixed economies that are propagated by both the left and right of politics. Both sides view themselves as the better economic manager, in doing so abandoning any principle of free markets and capitalist ideas. From energy to big tech to pharmaceuticals to the monetary system itself. All aspects of the economy are now either nationalised or being heavily controlled by legislation (or are planned to be) by the state in some form. This isn't economic freedom, it stinks of managerislism and is strategically putting the west at risk.

I really like Victor, but disagree on his assessment. Watch Duran podcasts is more accurate on what’s really going on .

MY HUSBAND AND I ADOPTED 3 CHILDREN FROM THE UKRAINE (THE EASTERN PART - KHARKOV) MORE RUSSIAN, THAN UKRAINIAN. ABOUT 1 MONTH INTO HAVING OUR CHILDREN LIVE WITH US, MY HUSBAND TOLD MY DAUGHTER TO CLEAN HER ROOM WHICH WAS REALLY BAD. HER RESPONSE WAS, "YOU GIVE ME 5 DOLLARS". HE REPLIED, "IS THAT THE RUSSIAN WAY OF DOING BUSINESS?" SHE LAUGHED BUT WAS VERY SERIOUS, SHE WANTED 5 DOLLARS. MY HUSBAND THEN TOLD HER, " I AM GOING TO SHOW YOU THE GERMAN WAY OF DOING BUSINESS; YOU CLEAN YOU'RE ROOM AND I WILL THEN LET YOU EAT TONIGHT." ENOUGH SAID ABOUT RUSSIAN NEGOTIATION.

Hmmm.. For two people so involved in politics to be this wide of the mark is eye opening.

Growing up in the USSR-occupied Romania as a communist country during the 1950s-'60s, the impression of the Russians was symbolized by one of their typical behaviors during their incursion in that country during WWII by saying -- while pointing an arm at you -- "davai cheas" which means "give me your watch"! That was their standard way to achieve the impression of looking more civilized; it didn't matter that such an image was realized by force, from any person that was wearing one, and sometime those that didn't!! The Russians' destructive actions in Ukraine are an excellent evidence about how much they have "progressed" during their 8/eight decades on the path of developing a more progressive civilization!!!
