I think I remember getting mad at this part too. A hint on the conch: reenter Xinyan's story. Every one has this second half with a conch, so 4 conchs in total

If you're still stuck:
1. Activate Xinyan's drum to make the right side island shorter. There should be a cave that's accessible on the base level of the beach now.
2. Solve the lil' puzzles and the conch should be good to grab once you've lowered all the water down.
3. If you want the chest that's blocked by the newly formed tree roots, go back out, tap Xinyan's drum, make the island taller, access the lil' door thing, and do the puzzle again.
4. Profit!
