So, Scrat from Ice Age wasn't based off a real animal; he was just a fictional saber-toothed squirrel. However, in 2011, a few years after the first movie, paleontologists described Cronopio dentiacutus, a mammal that looked remarkably similar to Scrat. But, it didn't live during the Ice Age; it thrived in Argentina during the Late Cretaceous, around 99-96 million years ago. They weren't squirrels or related, but belonged to an extinct group close to marsupials and placental mammals. Currently, they're only known from a few fossil skulls, including their distinctive saber teeth.

Theory: so Scrat was in the ice age it wasn’t I was in croegous I got a theory that Scrat created Pangea x2 solar system and the moon because the animator bought Scrat to life which happened in real life
