Seems like whenever a team decides to close shop & sit on their lead, all it achieves is to give the opposing team a head of steam to run over the top of them.
Last week against Carlton, Collingwood were lucky with that game particular game-plan, & they were able to hold on desperately for the win - this time, Collingwood weren't so lucky, & Sydney got the job done.
These days, teams are very proficient at scoring - so much so that sitting on a lead doesn't work anymore - unless it's when there's only a couple of minute's left - then I can understand it.

The deliberate out of bounds calls were absolutely pathetic. As was the non-call 50m penalty. Neutral supporter here, but the pies were completely robbed.

Three of the past four AFL matches have seen successful comebacks from 25 points down or more [GWS v Hawthorn (28 points), Essendon v Fremantle (25 points) and now Sydney v Collingwood (27 points)].

This may have just ended Collingwood's season with two matches remaining. Both teams needing to win this one for different reasons. The talking point is the final minute of the match. Were the Magpies unlucky not to be gifted a 50-metre penalty or was the Swans player rightfully given the benefit of the doubt? The momentum meant that he couldn't slow down in time.

What the hell was Craig McRae thinking when he said that it would've been a 50-metre penalty if it was at the Macca? Is he salty? He's normally the master of close matches, but this was one that slipped from his fingers, and it may as well have cost his side a chance to play Finals.
