I have just shoved a Sierra LTE modem in my notebook. Not the fastest one but I have connection in such case.

As other suggested flash openwrt if available for that platform.

The wifi on this unit seemed to cut speeds about in half for me. Using a different router with it got me to about the same numbers in this video.

Pretty certain you would need to reconnect to the tower, changing bands to see different speeds… not sure how if physically powering off and on doesn’t do it… maybe a manual command?

Maybe through an IP telephone handset? Or only the SIM card's monthly data allocation?

Pretty good router. Probably should flash it with clean openwrt. I`ve flashed openwrt as first setup step) Works fine in non-heated building (down to -20C)

You might want to try an MTU from 1396 to 1450 as it'll be using an MTU of 1500 by default which isn't best on LTE networks
