his work in this period is unparalleled. One of my biggest influences.

This is the song that gave birth to Crosby, Stills and Nash. Crosby and Nash were visiting Stills sometime in 1967-8 and he played this song for them. Nash loved it and asked Stephen to play it again. On the 3rd time, he learned the melody and vocals and all 3 musicians joined their voices together to sing it again. Thats when they discovered the magic of their vocal harmony in unison and CSN was born.

Stills. One of the relatively unheralded musical giants of the 60's and 70's.

He is 73 years old now. They will all fade away soon. There are no young ones that can fill the void. Lovely piece

These lyrics RESONATED with me, THEN; still haunt me, NOW;
and become more RELEVANT the older I get... with EACH passing year.
"You are living a reality I left years ago
It quite nearly killed me.
In the long run it will make you cry.
Make you crazy and old before your time.
And the difference between me and you.
I won't argue right or wrong,
But I have time to cry, my baby"

Stephen was always my favorite signer in CSN. Underrated vocalist and guitar player, for sure.

I dig the way Steven uses those drop tunings, it adds so much depth to his sound. Brilliant fingerstyle.

When this song was done with David Crosby AND Graham Nash, WOW !!!! The most Beautiful Harmony ever imagined !!! This man, Stephen Stills, would sometimes play ALL the instruments in some of their recorded work.. He is that good.. And yes, his voice is very, very, well rounded, perfect pitch, and Always recognized in any song he sings... And he did all of this with pretty much 1 ear !!! His other ear was really bad for all the years he was in Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young, etc... HIs words and music alone - nobody can or will ever be able to touch it... God Bless you, Stephen Stills, and Family...

I cannot fall any harder for this man - no matter 1964 or 2023. I cannot fall any harder. I am gone.

I like how he tunes the guitar at 0:11. Glad I saw them back in the day.

So cool. Loved him/them in the day. Watched the excellent CSNY doc which includes this song. Never my favorite at the time but there are certain songs (like Suite:..) that I can barely listen to having literally worn them out. Finding new bliss in the songs I didn't kill through endless repetition.
I am not such an olde fart that I think there is no worthy contemporary music but jeez....the depth/musicianship of some of the music of the Stills era is stunning

Their voices blend so seamlessly that I thought I had his part down for decades...apparently only a dumbed down version. Thank you Stills for all your artistry!

I saw him last summer touring with Judy Collins. Front row near the center. He had a lot of trouble saying vocally in tune. On the other hand, his guitar playing was like a master class. I had no idea he was that good. The only other guitar on stage was Collins on an acoustic twelve.

Sound Art, vibrations from the soul, reverberations from the heart is this. Wish it was five times longer!

Blues or country, when he was young and now when he' sold, he's always had that lonesome soulful sound.
