If only disney continued making these simple and yet meaningful movies again.

You can tell that he knows the feeling of separation and loneliness when his face showed an obvious face change from disappointment to empathy.

Fox and the hound is a criminally underrated Disney film, I wish animated movies nowadays were treated with the depth and melancholy this movie had.

Cartoons were so realistic back then, they had such deep plots and you could really feel the emotions in the characters.

I wish Disney would create more simple, meaningful stories like this again.

This movie literally hits you like a truck. The premise is quite simple but the message it conveys is powerful. Despite being a "kids" movie I find it to be pretty heartbreaking and gut wrenching. The loss of inocence, friendship, childhood, separation, animal cruelty, empathy...modern Disney does not stand a CHANCE against these classics. This movie hits different, specially as a grown up. I did not cry over this movie as a little kid. I'm an adult now and I feel heavily moved by this masterpiece.

This is why Anti-Villains are underrated in Fiction, Imo.

Cuz while Anti-Heroes are
- "I'm the 'Hero', but that doesn't mean I'm a Saint."

Anti-Villains are
- "I'm the 'Villain', but that doesn't mean I'm a monster."

The man isn’t evil, just misunderstood

Infinite respect to the hunter. The man felt Copper's pain, his sorrow, and cared more for that than killing his quarry. SUCH a good movie!

As a 6yr old this movie was the saddest thing of my life, I still think about it and feel sad time to time. By far my favorite Disney movie...

Back when creators of Disney films actually cared about delivering a message. I swear it feels like Disney films today are just one social barrier away from having princesses twerk on screen.

This cartoon was one of my late grandfather’s favourite movies ever. I appreciate this scene not only for the obvious reasons of Copper and Todd having each other’s back when it really comes down to it (Todd had just previously put himself between Copper and a pissed off bear, they’re even now haha) - but for its humanizing depiction of the film’s antagonist: Amos, the hunter. That look on his face at the end…no one-dimensional “bad guy” can make you feel what he’s feeling with an expression alone in conjunction with the act of lowering his weapon. This scene is just loaded (like the gun). He realizes perhaps that he’s been a fool and just about ruined himself in pursuit of something akin to madness. He comes back. I believe he truly comes to his senses here.

The smile they share at the end is so bittersweet. They may not be able to spend time together again, but they at least they forgave each other and parted on good terms.
