They could've just said that anything he did outside of private resort's border isn't their business, but firing him is another level of petty. Makes me think that they were forced to hire a lifeguard rather than caring about safety.

Similar thing happened to me. I was working security when I came across a guy trying to jump off an overpass. I turned my lights on, ran out, and pulled him off. I got fired for using the company vehicle lights while on a public road, and for getting involved with a situation off private property while on duty

I used to be a Lifeguard, and let me tell you, working for a private company is one of the worst places you could be. Yea the pay might be more in some cases but you always have to follow some dumb rules, especially if you are a beach guard. It's not worth it imo

I think that good Samaritan laws clearly dont go far enough. I don't want to live in a place like new york or Beijing where people will just step over a dead body because they're so brow beaten by the cruelty of the people around them they wont even risk the consequences of helping

Legally in Canada at least where i live to perform cpr on someone you need there consent first which is absolutely brain dead
