Diesel loco is best when distance between stops is more and Electric loco is good even when distance between stops is less as it can implement regenerative braking whereas for diesel engine frequent stops are uneconomical owing to higher amount of fuel required due to frequent starting and stopping.Diesel engines(WDM 3A/3D) too can achieve very good speeds

Electric may be faster than diesel and steam but steam and diesel can do more jobs most electric locomotives are stuck to the coaches while be decoupled and can be reused for shunting, freight, and passenger trains which makes steam and diesel more useful than electric

My favourite electric locomotive is WAG12, WAG7, WAG9, WAP4, WAP5, WAP7, WAM4, WAG5 WCAM 3, WCAM 2, & WAG11. & diseal locomotive is WDM 3A, WDG4, WDG5, WDP4, WDG 3A, WDG4D. But my two favourite locomotive that run on both electric and diseal that is WAG C3 & WDAP5

Friend I want to add one point regarding the pollution aspect, the people working in Diesel Loco Shed have really horrible life and many of them are patients of cardiac elements to serious hearing problems.My father worked in Howrah Diesel Shed and
he had massive cardiac arrest on duty due to tremendous air and noise pollution and cardiac problems and lungs related issues were frequent among his colleagues .When over 70 diesel locos are in different phases of testing at full throttle in loco shed it literally generates deadly sound and air pollution and personally checked it and it was horrible to say the least.Diesel locos are pollution monsters for the railway men working in Diesel loco shed.
The loco pilots of Diesel again have major health hazards compared to their electric counterpart.🇮🇳
