The protocol for placement of dental implants and the surgical guidelines for placement of a dental implants were formally given to the world in 1982 by Dr. Branemark. These guidelines were adopted by the national institute of health in the United States and they were immediately formalised. These guidelines affects the success of an implant. Dr. Branemark coined a term caked as osseointegation, which he observed p when surface comes indirect contact with bone under certain ideal conditions. these ideal conditions are the close contact of the implant with the bone the temperature at the time of osteotomy, that is at the time off the placement of the implant should not go beyond 47 degree centigrade which can be achieve by copious irrigation with normal saline and water undisturbed healing for a period of 12 to 14 weeks and it varies from certain other contains also. Therefore the guidelines also defines the distance between the two implants, the ideal distance between the implants and the natural tooth, they find the ideal distance between the implant and the edge of the bone and various other factors. if two simultaneous implants are placed, into bone, which are next to each other and these guidelines given by the NIH are followed, then stability of both the implants are assured. At the same time there should be a good soft tissue at the time on the implant, which plays an important role for the stability of the implant and also avoids post preparative infections. At our clinic we specialise in full mouth rehabilitation where we place 12 to 16 implants in a patient who does not have any teeth inside the mouth and we have observed a good stability and proud to have a very high success rate of a the implants that we place in our clinic.
